Welcome to the second edition of our new weekly newsletter from Scott Gunn and the Forward Movement team. In today’s missive, Scott writes about preparing ourselves for the Lenten season.
We are in a peculiar time in our liturgical year. The bright lights of Epiphany and Christmas are behind us. Ahead of us we see our Lenten journey with its invitation to renew our walk with Jesus.
For the next few weeks, we can rest up and prepare ourselves for Lent. Maybe you will want to decide ahead of time what Lenten disciplines or practices you will take on. If you are a lay leader or clergy person, you might want to find a means to engage your congregation together in a new way.
Forward Movement certainly has plenty of resources for Lent, but so do many others. While it might seem early to start thinking about Lent when we just took down the Christmas tree, it will be here in just a few weeks. This opportunity to grow as disciples of Jesus is too important to leave to the last minute.
So, for the next few weeks, enjoy a quieter pace in this season, but do make some time to think ahead toward Lent.
